Football review

Before we get into the Indian sports, here's a football wrap from this weekend's action.

The terrific Cristiano Ronaldo is going strong in Saudi Pro League, he achieved yet another goal-scoring feat on Saturday. Mohamed Salah has hit a double century while Harry Kane's scintillating form took him past his club -- Bayern Munich legend -- Robert Lewandowski.

ESPN's By The Numbers has the best stats from the weekend: Meanwhile, Federico Dimarco scored a goal that could be worthy of the Puskas Award, and for that, he makes it to ESPN's Moment of the Weekend.

Rajasthan United pick up much-needed I-League victory

Rajasthan United FC registered their first win of the 2023-24 I-League season, as they triumphed 2-0 against Churchill Brothers, thanks to goals from Lalchungnunga Chhangte and Richardson Kwaku Denzell.

What's in store today?

Rohan Bopanna and Matt Ebden play their first match in the ATP World Tour Final, as they face Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury, the pair who beat them in the US Open final a couple of months ago

What happened yesterday?

You can look back on a detailed version of yesterday's events, here. But the major bullet points are:

  • The big news of the day was Sriram Balaji winning an ATP Challenger Doubles title in Helsinki, with Andre Begemann, beating the all-Indian pair Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan 6-2, 7-5. At the same event, Sumit Nagal lost the singles final.

  • India made it nine wins in nine in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, and go into Wednesday's semifinal against New Zealand full of confidence.
