News: 2 days agoHead coach Arthur Smith said Monday that Heinicke's hamstring injury is considered "low grade," Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.

Spin: Additionally, Smith said the Falcons will use the Week 11 bye to determine who will start under center when the team returns to action Nov. 26 versus the Saints. With the bye week to recuperate, Heinicke's hamstring injury isn't expected to be a major concern by the time the Falcons begin Week 12 prep. Desmond Ridder completed four of six passes for 39 yards and rushed three times for 11 yards and a touchdown in relief of Heinicke in this past Sunday's loss to Arizona.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Heinicke signed with the Falcons and is expected to back up second-year QB Desmond Ridder. Of course, Ridder is far from a sure thing to last the whole season as the team's starter, having failed to stand out during four starts as a third-round rookie. If Heinicke gets the call to start, he's unlikely to find his way to fantasy value. He's yet to finish a season better than 20th in fantasy points and ranked 28th on a per-game basis with Washington last season. The 30-year-old is safe to ignore on draft day.
